Four steps to go from “someone stole my photo” to “the site removed the image or paid for a licence”.
Drop in your photos or your portfolio. A SHA-256 fingerprint and the upload date are recorded for every file.
Several reverse image search engines look for your images, even cropped or edited. Your own sites and authorised clients are filtered out.
In one click: full-page screenshot, copy of the page code, timestamp, server IP, host and file fingerprints.
Generate a cease and desist letter, a notice to the host, a DMCA notice or a retroactive licence invoice, ready to send.
Your photos are rescanned automatically, monthly or every two weeks depending on your plan. You get an e-mail as soon as a new use appears.
Each match gets a priority: identical or cropped image, likely commercial use, social network. You deal with what matters first.
Declare your sites, clients and licences: their domains no longer show up as theft.
A timestamped manifest with SHA-256 fingerprints of the screenshot, the page code and your original, to attach to your letters.
Registrar, abuse contact and host identified automatically, so you know where to send your takedown request.
Cease and desist letter, EU Digital Services Act notice to the host, DMCA notice (17 U.S.C. § 512) and retroactive licence invoice.
The site using your photo pays by card in one click from your letter. The money goes straight to your account.
Every case is tracked: a reminder at day 8, then at day 15, stopped as soon as the photo is paid for or removed.
Every uploaded photo gets a trusted timestamp (RFC 3161): dated proof that the file was in your hands.
Portfolio, Instagram or a folder on your computer: your new photos are protected effortlessly.
Export with your name and licence in the IPTC metadata, and a “Protected photos” badge for your website.
Your dashboard estimates what the uses found could earn you, based on your rates.
Many sites use a photo without realising it has an author. A clear, priced and documented settlement request is often enough to get paid, without going to court.

Read the guideUpload your photos to Frolay Protect. It runs a reverse image search on several engines, lists the pages where each image appears, filters out your own sites and authorised clients, then alerts you whenever a new use appears.
In the 181 countries of the Berne Convention, including the UK, the EU, Canada and Australia, an original photograph is protected from the moment it is created, with no formality. You do need to be able to prove you are the author: RAW files, metadata, date of first publication. In the United States, registration with the Copyright Office is required before suing and unlocks statutory damages, but a DMCA takedown notice works without it.
Frolay Protect keeps a copy of the page, a full-page screenshot, the timestamp, server IP addresses and SHA-256 fingerprints. That is a solid file for an out-of-court claim. For a lawsuit, your lawyer may also want an independent record (a notary, bailiff or forensic capture service, depending on the country), and your file helps them act fast.
Start from the licence fee for the use you found (web, print, advertising), usually with a surcharge for the lack of permission and the missing credit. Frolay Protect suggests an amount based on your own rates, which you adjust before sending.
For a US site or host, Frolay Protect generates a DMCA notice (17 U.S.C. § 512). In the European Union, the notice to the host is based on the Digital Services Act. Elsewhere, the host’s abuse contact and the domain registrar are usually the fastest route.
Yes. Your photos are never published. They are only sent to reverse image search engines, just long enough to find matches.
Frolay Protect is a detection and drafting tool. It does not provide legal advice; for a significant dispute, speak to a lawyer or a professional photographers’ association.
